			This is the BBC Third Programme. We present The Evenings of Certain Lives, a new Invention for Radio by Barry Bermange.
			This programme is an attempt to reconstruct with sounds and voices some of the hazards of growing old.
			What is life really like at the point where old age begins and the body just won't work as it used to do
			and the eyes just won't see, the ears just won't hear and the memory of what you were is beginning to fade?
			Using the same methods of construction he used in his earlier programmes, The Dreams, Amor Dei and The After Life,
			the author has arranged, in settings of electronic sound, a collection of voices recorded from life.
			There are five movements.
